Jumanji: Open World Trailer Brings Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black Back for a Christmas Adventure: Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Jumanji: Open World, bringing back Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan for another adventure in the action-comedy franchise. Directed by Jake Kasdan, the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on December 25, 2026.

The new instalment introduces a different twist to the familiar Jumanji storyline. While the previous films centred on characters entering a video game, the latest chapter sees the game break free from its console and bring its characters and dangerous creatures into the real world.

The trailer offers glimpses of action sequences, comedy and unexpected situations as the boundaries between the game and reality begin to disappear. The familiar video-game avatars, including Dr. Smolder Bravestone, played by Johnson, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, played by Hart, Professor Shelly Oberon, played by Black, and Ruby Roundhouse, played by Gillan, must navigate an unfamiliar environment.

The story also features a new twist involving the characters’ identities and changing avatars, creating situations that combine action with humour. The group must find a way to restore the balance between the two worlds before the chaos spreads further.

The returning cast includes Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman and Ser’Darius Blain. Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito are also part of the film, alongside Awkwafina and Rhys Darby.

Jake Kasdan returns as director and co-writer, working with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is based on the original Jumanji book by Chris Van Allsburg.

The franchise began with the 1995 film starring Robin Williams, which introduced audiences to a mysterious board game that brought its dangers into the real world. The series was later reimagined with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), followed by Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), featuring Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan.

With its return to the original concept of the game entering reality, the film is expected to attract audiences during the Christmas holiday season.
