Hilary Rosen Appointed New Chair of BAFTA, Succeeds Sara Putt:The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has appointed Hilary Rosen as its new Chair, following a year in the role of Deputy Chair. Rosen succeeds Sara Putt, who steps down after completing a three-year term.

The appointment was announced on October 27, 2026, as part of a series of leadership changes at the organisation, which represents professionals across the film, television and games industries.

Rosen will serve a three-year term and oversee BAFTA’s work to recognise and support talent across the screen industries through its awards, industry initiatives and year-round development programmes.

Currently Director of Commissioning at UKTV, Rosen leads the broadcaster’s original scripted and unscripted programming. She joined BAFTA’s Television Committee in 2021 and subsequently served as its Chair, contributing to the development of the Television and Craft Awards and overseeing award juries.

Alongside Rosen’s appointment, BAFTA has announced changes to several committee leadership positions.

Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller MBE have been appointed Deputy Chairs of the Academy for a two-year term. Caroline Levy will become Chair of the Television Committee, succeeding Rosen.

Charu Desodt has been appointed Chair of the Games Committee, taking over from Tara Saunders, while Nahrein Kemp will lead the Learning, Inclusion and Talent (LIT) Committee.

Desodt is a Studio Director with more than 25 years of experience in the games industry, including work involving Sony and Xbox. She previously received a BAFTA Breakthrough award in 2014 and has served on Games Awards juries.

Levy is a scripted television producer whose experience includes working with the BBC, Paramount and independent production companies. She has also been involved in initiatives supporting the growth of independent production companies across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Kemp, ITV’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Talent Lead, works on talent development and diversity initiatives. Her responsibilities include ITV’s Diversity Commissioning Fund and Diversity Development Fund.

Shrina Shah, Chair of BAFTA’s Governance and Appointments Committee, will also join the Board of Trustees.

Commenting on her appointment, Rosen said she was passionate about BAFTA’s work in promoting screen arts and supporting talent across the industry. She welcomed the opportunity to work alongside the newly appointed committee chairs and the wider Board of Trustees.

She expressed confidence that the new leadership team would continue the organisation’s work across film, television and games.

BAFTA is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the creative and cultural importance of screen arts. Its activities include annual awards ceremonies, professional development programmes, masterclasses, scholarships, bursaries and mentoring initiatives in the UK and North America.

The leadership changes come as BAFTA continues to expand its work in recognising creative achievements, supporting emerging professionals and addressing developments across the global entertainment industry.

The appointments place Rosen at the centre of BAFTA’s strategic leadership as the organisation continues its work with filmmakers, television professionals, game developers and other creative practitioners.
