K-Pop Boy Group TEMPEST Announces Disbandment After Four Years: K-pop boy group TEMPEST is bringing its group activities to an end following a decision reached after discussions among its members and agency, YH Entertainment. The announcement has left fans facing an emotional turning point in the group’s journey, which began with its debut in March 2022.
According to the agency’s official statement, the members will focus on their individual careers moving forward. The announcement also confirmed that member Hyuk is preparing to begin mandatory military service, while LEW’s exclusive contract with YH Entertainment will expire in November. YH Entertainment confirms group activities will conclude as members pursue individual careers, marking a major turning point for the six-member K-pop act.
The news marks the conclusion of TEMPEST’s activities as a group, although four members will continue working with the agency on individual projects.
Hyuk to Begin Mandatory Military Service on October 26
TEMPEST member Hyuk is scheduled to enlist in the military on October 26, 2026, to fulfil his mandatory service obligations.
YH Entertainment confirmed that no separate official event will be held on the day of his enlistment. The agency has requested that fans refrain from visiting the enlistment location, explaining that the site will also be used by other enlistees and their families.
The agency has encouraged supporters to send Hyuk their warm wishes and hopes that he will complete his military service safely and in good health.
His upcoming enlistment adds another significant development to the group’s transition away from collective activities.
LEW’s Contract to End on November 1
The agency also announced that LEW’s exclusive contract will conclude on November 1, 2026.
LEW, whose real name is Lee Eui-woong, first attracted public attention through his participation in the second season of the South Korean reality competition Produce 101 in 2017.
YH Entertainment expressed gratitude for his time with the company and asked fans to continue supporting him as he begins the next chapter of his career.
The announcement did not specify LEW’s future management arrangements or the projects he may pursue after leaving the agency.
Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Eunchan and Taerae to Pursue Individual Careers
While TEMPEST’s group activities are concluding, YH Entertainment confirmed that Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Eunchan and Taerae will remain with the agency.
The company plans to continue supporting the four members as they explore individual activities and present different aspects of their talents to audiences.
However, the announcement did not provide a detailed schedule for their upcoming projects.
The decision signals a new professional phase for the members, who will now have opportunities to develop their individual identities and careers outside the group’s established format.
TEMPEST’s Journey Since Its 2022 Debut
TEMPEST debuted on March 2, 2022, entering the competitive K-pop industry as a six-member boy group comprising Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Eunchan, LEW and Taerae.
The group attracted attention partly because Hyeongseop and LEW had previously appeared on Produce 101 Season 2. Hanbin had also participated in the idol survival programme I-LAND.
Over the course of their group career, the members built a fan base through their music releases, performances and promotional activities.
Their decision to end group activities after four years represents a significant change for supporters who followed their development from debut to their latest chapter.
Agency Thanks Fans for Their Support
In its statement, YH Entertainment thanked fans for their continued affection and support for TEMPEST. The agency acknowledged that the announcement could cause concern and expressed appreciation for the memories created during the group’s activities.
The company also asked fans to continue supporting all six members as they pursue their respective paths.
Although the group will no longer continue its activities in its existing form, the agency’s statement emphasised its gratitude for the time spent together under the TEMPEST name.
For fans, the announcement brings a period of uncertainty and reflection, while also opening a new chapter in the careers of the individual members.
As Hyuk prepares for military service, LEW approaches the end of his contract, and the remaining four members move towards individual projects, TEMPEST’s legacy will remain connected to the music and performances that defined its journey in the K-pop industry.
