There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her Officially Gets Second Season: Popular Fantasy Romance Anime Returns as Fans Look Forward to Another Chapter in Youki and Cecilia’s Unusual Love Story. Anime fans have reason to celebrate as the popular fantasy romantic comedy There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her has officially been renewed for a second season. The announcement was made on November 7, 2026, during the StarryCube ANIME FEST event in Japan, generating excitement among fans of the series.
The announcement was accompanied by a surprise video message from Kohei Amasaki, the voice actor behind the protagonist Youki. The event was organised in collaboration with Waseda University’s anime voice acting club, where the second season confirmation received an enthusiastic response from attendees.
An Unusual Romance Between a Demon and a Priestess
The series offers a refreshing twist on traditional fantasy anime storytelling by combining romance, comedy, adventure and supernatural elements.
The story follows Youki, a human who is reincarnated into a fantasy world as a mid-ranking demon serving the Demon King. His assignment is to defeat the Hero’s Party, but his mission takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Cecilia, a beautiful and kind-hearted priestess travelling with the heroes.
Instead of treating Cecilia as an enemy, Youki falls in love with her and decides to confess his feelings, despite their opposing allegiances. His romantic ambitions create amusing complications as he struggles between his responsibilities as a demon and his desire to win Cecilia’s heart.
The unusual relationship between two characters belonging to opposing sides provides the foundation for the series’ romantic comedy and fantasy adventures.
